For this week’s Switch Kickstarter Project of the Week, we will be looking at Krome Studios’ Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. The game is slated to release in Q1 2020 on PC and Nintendo Switch. Here’s the rundown:TY the Tasmanian Tiger is Krome Studios’ charming Australiana-themed videogame that debuted in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube, the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. Krome Studios was a finalist of the Australian Game Developer Association annual awards with Best Handheld Game, Best Game Audio, and for Outstanding Visual Arts. We’re chuffed that TY the Tasmanian Tiger won Best Character Design, and that millions of people fell in love with the game and its characters too. Now, in 2019, we’re seeking to return to our roots and our mates with a nostalgic re-mastering of this platformer-genre classic. We’re seeking US$50,000 to bring TY the Tasmanian Tiger HD to the Nintendo Switch.
Krome Studios shared its release plans in an update on Ty the Tasmanian Tiger's Kickstarter page. Fundraising began in 2019, its starting goal. Just a quick announcement that we've just launched a Kickstarter to help fun porting the TY the Tasmanian Tiger 1 HD remaster to the Nintendo Switch.
The best part will be the new Switch controls where you can use them like boomerangs to throw and glide. And because it’s on the Switch, you can take it with you – it’s portable! While we’re at it, we’ll improve the graphics and the audio, and of course we’ll need funds for the various testing costs associated with releasing a product on Nintendo’s console.
Passing Lot Check ain’t free ya know. You are TY, the last of the Tasmanian Tigers. Raised by a family of Bilbies, you can only vaguely recall your real parents. You’ve always thought that all the other Tassie Tigers died a long time ago.But then the Bunyip Elder found you, and told you that your family is alive, but trapped in the Dreaming. Now hold your horses don’t get upset you see they’re not stuck there forever, if you’re up for a bit of an adventure! You see, deep in the Outback, there’s this kind of glowy portal thing that is a doorway to the Dreaming. And around that portal there are some carvings in the rock, where five ancient mystical Talismans used to lay. Now, all you have to do is find the five Talismans, put them in the carvings, and the portal to Dreaming will open! Now, before you go off like a frog in a sock, there’s just this one SMALL problem.
You see there’s this evil cassowary – Boss Cass – who’s also after the Talismans. THAT Boss Cass. The one that trapped your family in the Dreaming in the first place, and told the school board to remove all the meat pies from the tuck shops.
